 A BEAUTIFUL RELATIONSHIP WITH NATURE

“I was born and raised in Arizona, but I now live close to the Rocky Mountains which is awesome. Those pine trees and the mountains... I mean, I just don't even know how to describe what I feel like when I'm in the forest, especially because there's some people that are more beach people, ocean people, etc. But, I'm a forest girl, and you get me in a forest and the crinkling of those pine needles underneath your feet, and the smell that comes through those pine needles, and the sound when the wind comes in and wraps around the trees, like, whoo, it's the best high that there is. And there's just this instant grounding that occurs. I love that feeling.  At home, getting laundry done on time is such a big deal. You know, and I'm trying to keep all the checkboxes and everything on schedule, but you get to nature and it's like, Girl, that doesn't matter. There's just something that reminds you about how big you are. And it's a very personal, individual journey. You get to the truth of who you are, if you're paying attention to it. And once you know the truth of who you are, a lot of the rules and the beliefs and the judgments and the schedules, it just sort of fades away. And you're left with this beautiful relationship that you want to protect with everything that you possibly can. Then, if you spend enough time in nature, you get to carry that forward with you as you leave. And then the journey becomes how can you replicate that feeling in the middle of your day today. What routines can you establish? What can you learn about yourself so that you can be that kind of Olympian, that spiritual Olympian that shows up every day for your life? It's really beautiful.

DRIVING HUMAN CONNECTION

“There is a balance of understanding how to use technology to create human connection. Because that's a part of nature, right? And to me the connection with ourselves is the connection with the greater good with Mother Earth. It's all intertwined in my view. My soul's purpose is to drive human connection. And honestly, it's never been more important, especially as all of the talks of the metaverse are coming out and people are going to only be more socially distanced. I am on a mission to make sure that no matter where technology goes, we still have that heart to heart connection. And in order to do that, you really have to be open. You have to be open. And that's so hard for people because we have had so much trauma, disappointment, frustration, and confusion in our individual lives that our tendency is to get closed off and to protect. But I'm here to tell you that that is only going to make things worse for yourself, because you're going to feel even more disconnected and more alone and isolated. And that's not the answer.

LIVE YOUR VALUES

“So like with a crowbar, you're gonna have to force yourself to open up, and then remember the value of being connected to another human being on a really intimate level. And I think in order to be open and to feel safe about it, you just need to dig in and really assess your values. If I value honesty, then you take a cold, hard look around, and am I living out that value? Oh, I guess I'm not in my marriage, or I guess I'm not with my kid, or I guess I'm not with my neighbor, best friend... And if you're not living within your own true values, that's a problem. And something that I would invite you to fix. So your simple exercise is to hold yourself accountable to your values every single day, even if it's a few minutes.

I have my company core values written on a whiteboard. I've also memorized them, but I look at that whiteboard every single day. And I'm remembering deeply fulfilled, lean and better together, wavering excellence, and meaningful connection. Those are my five company core values. And they're largely the same for my personal values. But I also value freedom. And so I think, Am I really living a true life of freedom? And if I'm not, what changes do I want to make to feel a teeny tiny bit more free today? You don't have to go to full blown freedom. That's too much to ask of any one person. But freedom could mean grabbing your cup of coffee in the middle of your workday and giving yourself permission to go outside and just take a look around, take a deep breath, and then go right back inside. That's a little tiny moment of freedom that you can have for yourself, that keeps you in line with your values, that then allows you to feel safe and open. And when you share your values with other people, your people that value the same thing will start to just be attracted in and the connection will be so deep and so rich, and so fulfilling that you can't believe how good your life is at that point. So that would be my parting wisdom for you. “
